Engelbert Farms certified organic cheeses are made from high-quality organic cow milk produced on our farm. Our milk is never co-mingled with milk from other farms, and each batch of cheese is made by hand, making our cheeses a true artisan product! We offer organic Cheddars, Goudas, Feta, Moochego and MooVache, our signature, soft spreadable variety. To ensure your cheese isn't in transit over the weekend, we only ship on Monday and Tuesday.
Engelbert Farms, LLC is a certified organic dairy farm in Nichols, NY. The Engelbert family has been farming in the southern tier of New York since 1848 and in Nichols since 1911. Our sons represent the 5th generation farming in Nichols. We started farming organically in 1981 and became certified in 1984 – the first certified organic dairy farm in the US! We use no chemicals on our land, and no antibiotics or hormones on our animals. Our dairy cows spend their days happily munching certified organic pasture during the grazing season and organic forages and a small amount of organic grain in the non-grazing season. We raise all of our own organic feed, so we know that our cows are eating the highest quality organic feed available. We also offer certified organic garlic - for eating and for seed.
In 2018 we purchased the historic Creamery building in the Village of Nichols and moved our store there in 2019. We offer a full line of certified organic, farm-raised beef, pork, veal, cheese and seasonal vegetables. Our focus is ORGANIC and LOCAL, and we carry products from many local organic and sustainable farms and businesses.
